Sustainable Ag 1 | MBIDAVIS, Calif., November 13, 2018 — Marrone Bio Innovations, Inc. (MBI) (NASDAQ: MBII), a leading global provider of bio-based pest management and plant health products, today announced that Agribusiness Intelligence, a leading media provider for the global crop protection and agricultural biotechnology industries, awarded Marrone Bio Innovations the Agrow Awards 2018 – Best New Biological Product award for its Venerate® bioinsecticide.

Venerate is an advanced microbial biopesticide based on a new species of bacterium discovered by MBI that produces several natural compounds, which work together to control a broad range of chewing and sucking insects and mites, while remaining non-toxic and low risk to non-target organisms, such as honeybees. Venerate has multiple modes of action to manage pest populations, pest resistance, and pesticide residues. It is labeled for and used on many crops such as grapes, almonds, leafy greens, berries, and fruiting vegetables and also as a seed treatment on corn, soy, cotton and wheat.

The Agrow Awards 2018, hosted by Agribusiness Intelligence, a leading media provider for the global crop protection and agricultural biotechnology industries, is widely considered to be a premier industry event, celebrating excellence across diverse categories which recognize agricultural industry advancements in technology and innovation within crop protection and production. Winners are judged by an independent panel of industry experts. To be eligible for the awards, products were required to be formulated in a way that is acceptable to users and distributors, while also providing the ability to forge a path in a market dominated by synthetic chemicals.

“Venerate biopesticide joins our Regalia biofungicide, Grandevo bioinsecticide, and Majestene bionematicide as the winner of the prestigious Agrow Award for the Best New Biological Product,” said Pam Marrone, CEO of Marrone Bio Innovations. “It is truly an honor to add yet another award for our innovative portfolio of biological products. This recognition further strengthens our position as a thought leader within the rapidly growing biological crop protection industry. I look forward to providing our shareholders with further updates on our cutting-edge product pipeline as appropriate,” concluded Marrone.
